Chancellor Announces Groundbreaking Entrepreneurial Initiative During Visit to Hensard University

His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, Chancellor and founder of Hensard University, in Toru Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, during his visit to the university on 5 November 2024, announced a groundbreaking initiative that promises to give every Hensard University student hands-on entrepreneurial experience before graduation.  

 

The Senator explained that this initiative aims to prepare students for a rapidly evolving job market by equipping them with practical skills in innovation, business, and leadership. 

 

“Hensard University believes in nurturing creators, thinkers, and leaders. By ensuring each student gains entrepreneurial experience, we aim to produce graduates ready to succeed in any field,” His Excellency stated. 

 

He further expressed confidence in the university’s continued growth and its commitment to fostering an educational environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

 

While pledging entrepreneurial experience to the students, he presented messages on the importance of self-discovery, goal-setting, and entrepreneurial skills in today’s world. He offered the students pieces of advice on achieving success while stating how Hensard University will be laying a promising foundation for their’ future.

 

During his address, the senator encouraged students to take ownership of their academic pursuit and personal journeys. “Finding your path is key to building a successful future,” he noted. “Your time here is not just about academic achievements, but about understanding your passions, setting meaningful goals, and equipping yourself with the skills to make real-world impact.”

 

In a special message to the students of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies during an interview session with him, His Excellency emphasized the essential role of responsible communication in society. He urged the students to approach their field with integrity and to use their skills to share authentic stories that inspire positive change. “Media and communication are powerful tools. Use them wisely and remember that your voice has the potential to shape perspectives and influence public opinion,” he stated.

 

He revealed to the communication students, his interest in having them become knowledgeable and effective in the use of technologies relevant in the fields of broadcasting, journalism, and film making. His desire is for the communication students to be exposed to a myriad of new media, promising to ensure the availability of all the equipment they will need during practical and training sessions. 

 

He encouraged all students in the different faculties, including agriculture, urging them to take every academic and entrepreneurial exercise seriously.
