As part of its efforts to promote learning and academic excellence among students, Hensard University has distributed free educational materials to students of the University.

 

The items, which include branded school books and backpacks, come as a product of the University’s partnership with the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation (HSDF).

 

This initiative, according to University Management, aims to save students money on educational supplies while also fostering academic excellence.

 

Speaking during the presentation of the items to the students, Prof. Shedrack Jatau, the University's Director of Academic Planning, said the donations fulfilled the pledge made by H.E. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the Founder of HSDF, to lower the cost of education and provide students with the basic educational materials they need to learn.

 

He charged the beneficiary-students to be good ambassadors of Hensard University by studying hard to make their dreams come true.

 

“The educational materials have been fully branded to reflect the insignia and core values of the university. As students of Hensard University, you must always imbibe the virtues of good behaviour encapsulated in the 12 core values of the university.

 

“You must uphold good conduct and leverage on these educational items to achieve academic excellence,” Prof. Jatau urged the students.

 

Reacting to the donations, one of the beneficiaries, Sawyer Tare – a first-year Software Engineering student, expressed delight in the gesture.

 

“I am very happy to have received this school bag and school books. These items will help me so much in my studies and it has saved me the cost of buying new notebooks and school bag,” he said.

 

Destiny Godday, a visibly-excited Accounting student, showed off her new bag.

“I feel so excited about my school bag and books. It would have been very expensive if I were to buy them from the market. I am so grateful to Hensard University and the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation.”

 

Another student, Victoria Lawrence Idipiye (Political Science & International Relations), was all smiles as she tightly hugged her new bag bulging with school supplies.

 

“I feel very excited and delighted because not many universities would do things like these for their students. I just want to say a very big thank you to my University and the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation,” she said.
